Fly fishing

Now, although we have both fly fished before, neither of us are experts. This is the reason we went fishing up in Montana last week. This is also the reason we brought with us Howard, one of Kev's work buddies. He is an expert fly fisherman and was a very patient teacher. After fishing (and in my case napping, reading books, and watching ipod videos) for three days I had 3 fish to show for it. The accomplishment being that two fo them were caught on my fly rod! For those that may not know, fly fishing is more difficult than it looks. Or it was for me at least. Here are a few pictures.

Mother's Day Pictures

We traditionally try to take a few pictures of my family on Mother's Day.  However, this year the sun was a little bright and the tripod consisted of an old cardboard box.  Kevin was our very patient photographer.  I love my mom.  I hope she had a great Mother's day.  Unfortunately these pics could use a little love (AKA photoshopping) and I don't think they'll play center stage for next year's photobook.

That's Hot.

Flaming Gorge

We try to hit flaming gorge this time of year because the fishing is SO good.  However, this year the fishing was SO good for everyone except me and my dad.  In the entire fishing trip I caught two fish, my dad caught two.  Kevin however, caught between 10 and 15 fish.  My sister Rosie and her friend caught 5 in the first hour.  I don't know why my dad and I were so jinxed, but we still had fun.  The amazing thing was that Kevin's parents actually came fishing with us too!  That's right we had BOTH families at Flaming Gorge.  Although both families are great it was definately more work and more worry trying to keep everyone happy.  The highlight of the trip is when Kevin's neice, Grace, explained how her dad was very strong, but that KEVIN is stronger than her dad.  Yeah, it was great.

Here Kevin is teaching Grace how to clean fish.  She knealt down in the fish guts, put her face right up to the fish and said, "I'll never do that.  That's gross."

Here is my fish attempting his great escape.

Yeah, it took me a while to wrangle that fish.

Kev and his dad, just being guys.

Boise Apartment

Last month we went and picked out our place to stay in Boise.  We found a super cute little one bedroom in the River Quarry apartments.  It is on a little lake/pond that is crowded with geese and ducks.  Next to the pond is the Boise river.  We are very excited about the river because it has a greenway all the way along it through town with great biking/jogging trails.  Also, we'll be able to fish within a short walk.  My work is five minutes away.  Here are some pictures.

Here's the actual apartment (second floor).

Here's the river.
